Obituary.  Carl Earl, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Dreyer, was born in Cleveland, Ohio, April 21st, 1896.  He was the youngest of four children and also the first to break the circle of a happy and contented home.  He was a dutiful and obedient son never causing his parents any sorry or anxiety, a loving and affectionate brother, who always considered the welfare and interest of his brothers and sister above his own.

His disposition was lovable, for to know Carl was to love him.  His character was irreproachable, not one spot or blemish could be found in his life.  His sociable nature made him a leader among his associates.  Two years ago next November, Carl gave his heart to God and united with the Evangelical Church to which he added luster, honor, and dignity.  His devotion to the Loyal Sons Class of which he was its President for the last year and a half was beautiful yet inspiring.  His Sunday School teacher says of him that she never asked a thing of Carol to which he did not respond.  His faithfulness to the Sunday School, Young Peoples Organizations, and Church services was faithfulness personified in his beautiful life.  He was faithful unto the end, for on last Sunday night he was in his place for the chorus.

In 1911, he with his family moved from Cleveland, Ohio, to their present home, where he lived till his tragic end which occurred about one mile south and east of Hesston, on Monday afternoon, July 19th, 1915, at the age of 19 years, 2 months, and 28 days.  He leaves father, mother, 2 brothers, and 1 sister, besides other relatives and a host of sorrowing and grief stricken friends.

Carl, a place is vacant in our home, that never can be filled, never again shall we hear your glad voice in our social gatherings, a voice we loved in our Sunday School class, is stilled.  The funeral was held Thursday morning at 10:30 at the Evangelical Church in Hesston, Kansas, conducted by the Pastor, Rev. E.J. Feltz, assisted by Rev. Helmkamp of Newton and Rev. H. Weins of Halstead.  The body was laid to rest in the Hesston Cemetery.   The Newton Journal, Newton, Kansas.  Friday, July 30, 1915.  Page 1.  (c) Harvey County Genelogical Society.
