Lawrence Corwin Arrested Again

May 11, 1923

Newton Boy Goes Wrong

Lawrence Corwin of Newton, 18 years old, was arrested Saturday and taken in custody by officers from Great Bend charged with forging a check for $40 last summer while out harvesting, using the man's name with whom he had been staying, and helping out.  The authorities there had not been able to locate Lasrence until they read of his arrest here for passing a bogus check to John Dickey.  He was out on $500 bail when re-arrested.

Lawrence has been writing checks for some time and a number of these are now in the hnds of officers.  He is an only son and has excellent parents and family connections.  The Newton Journal, Newton, Kansas.  Friday, May 11, 1923.  Page 1.  (c) Harvey County Genealogical Society.
