Obituary

Frances Litwiler was born June 7, 1842, in Butler county, Ohio and passed beyond on Sunday, March 4, 1917 at her home in Burrton, Kansas, following an illness of one week of paralysis.

She was united in marriage to John Garber in Pekin, Illinois, on November 16, 1862. He preceded her to the Better Land on February 7, 1879, while they were residing in Rice County, Kansas. To this union were born seven children, two of them passing away while quite young. Five survive her. They are, Noah E. Garber of Bloomington, Illinois; John W. Garber of Seward, Neb.; Joseph B. Garber of Hopedale, Illinois; Mary A. Stalcup and Ida B. White, both of Burrton.

four years ago she was married to E.B. Abbott of Wichita, Kansas.

When a young girl she united with the Mennonite Church of which she was a member until 1888 when she united with the Christian church of Burrton and has been a faithful member ever since.

She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, five children, fourteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three step-children, six step-grandchildren, two brothers of Illinois, one sister of Nebraska, two step-brothers, A.J. Stalzman of Burrton and C. Salzman of Offerla, Kansas, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Burrton Christian church, Monday afternoon and were conducted by Rev. J.W. Humphres of Mt. Hope Christian church.
