FRANCES LEE NEUFELD

Frances Lee (Stalnaker) Neufeld entered this world on June 28, 1933, in Abbeville, South Carolina, to Walter and Thelma Stalnaker, becoming their fourth daughter of seven children. Frances was very eager and ambitious to learn from an early age, up until her passing on Sunday, July 14, 2024. She started first grade in 1939 in Abbeville, S.C., and graduated from high school in the little town of Bath, S.C. in 1951, but that was not the end of her formal schooling. She took classes at Hesston College and Hutchinson Community College, after moving to Kansas. Frances had many passions, one being her like of travel, which brought her to Kansas to visit her sister, Harrie, who married Moundridge native, James "Jim" Dyck. It was during this visit she met the love of her life, Earl E. Neufeld. They were married on January 8, 1955, by Reverend J.C. Hunnicutt at the First Assembly of God Church in Columbia, S.C. They made their home on the farm south of Moundridge until Earl's death on October 17, 2015. Frances was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years and 9 months, Earl; her parents, Walter & Thelma Stalnaker-Yarborough; stepfather, Kelly Yarborough, brother and sister-in-law, Alvin & Frances Stalnaker, sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine & James Oakley, Benoline "Bennie" & Ernest Sox, Jean & Joe Smallwood, Louise & Sid Hatchell, and Harrie & Wesley Louie. Frances is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann & Orville Waltner; several nieces & nephews; and many great nieces & great nephews. Cremation is planned. Inurnment will take place at West Zion Church Cemetery, rural Moundridge. Moundridge Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
