Robert Arellano our beloved father and lifelong Los Angeles Dodgers fan, peacefully passed away at 87 on Friday July 25, 2024 at Kansas Christian Home, surrounded by his family. He was born on February 25,1937 in Newton, Kansas to parents Juan and Georgia Corona Arellano Porras. In 1958, Robert began courting his wife, of 64 years Katherine Rosella Flores from Liberal, Kansas. They married on May 11, 1959, in Newton Kansas and had 4 daughters. In 1996 he retired from A.T.&S.F. and Santa Fe Railroad after 25 years where he worked as an auto gauge engineer checking the tracks from Chicago to Los Angeles. Robert excelled at baseball, basketball, fastpitch and won many awards and trophies. He Was Inducted into The Newton Mexican American Hall of Fame in 1997. In his later years he excelled at bowling and golf. After retiring he enjoyed golfing five days a week and twice on Wednesday with his compadres his golf legacy was scoring "five" hole in ones. What many people don't know is he was also a talented woodworker and artist. Passing those talents on to his kids and grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jesse Arellano, sisters Sara Calvillo, Judy Arellano Jaso, and grandchildren Maxwell, Christian, Ashton and Quinn Taylor. He is survived by his sisters Vera Arellano Macias, Rosa Arellano Johnson. Brothers Ed Arellano and Thomas Arellano. His wife Rosella, his four daughters Brenda Arellano, Anna Arellano Prunty (Martin), Elaine Arellano Taylor (Ric), Sylvia Arellano Gwinn (Jon) and his five grandchildren Tobria Moorman (Mike), Robert Wagner (Allie), Sophia Payne, Ariana Claassen (Paul), Alexander Taylor, and three great grandchildren Skyler Payne, Grayson Wagner, and Jameson Moorman. Roberts' family and friends fondly refer to him as Mr. Clean, a focused perfectionist in everything he did professionally and personally. Services will be held on Thursday August 1st, Rosary at 10am followed by Mass at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Newton, Kansas. Interment will be held later at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Newton.
