Robert Clark McAllister

Robert Clark McAllister, 87, went to be with the Lord on July 27, 2024. He was born in Cortland Indiana to Oran Allen and Mary Evelyn Mounts McAllister. When he was 2 his family moved to Kansas. His dad was a ranch hand so they moved around quite a bit including living one summer in a log cabin next to the Laramie River in Wyoming. In 1949 Bob and his family moved to Burns, Kansas. A year after high school he joined the Navy for 4 years and then worked for the state engineers for 5 years. He then worked for the post office for 38 years being one of the last employees to ride the mail train. He was a charter member of Trinity Heights United Methodist Church. His whole life he was working hard. If he wasn't at the post office he was working a side job for a neighbor, friend or relative. After retirement he worked in Yellowstone for one summer which was the highlight of his retirement. He spent the last 24 years with the love of his life, Pat. They enjoyed playing cards, bus trips, square dancing, casinos and spending time with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bob also enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, auctions, Conway Springs football, Chiefs football, KU basketball and playing games. He is survived by Pat Jeffery of Conway Springs, KS; children Roy of Blackwell, OK; Heidi of Fountain, CO, Ray (Michelle) of Wichita, KS, Roger of Manhattan, KS, Sonya (Kelly) of Conway Springs, KS, Rob of Conway Springs, KS, Darin (Tara) of Haysville, KS, 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and sisters Crystal of Lawrence, KS and June of Heyworth, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents Oran and Mary McAllister, brothers Allen, Joe and Grover and sisters, Marilyn and Colleen. Services will be held Friday, August 2, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, 1200 Boyd Ave., Newton, KS. Please join the family for dinner following the service at Trinity United Methodist Church. Graveside will be 1:30 p.m. at Burns Cemetery, Alfalfa Rd, Burns, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Burns Community Historical Society at Box 1, Burns, KS 66840. Condolences may be left for the family at www.bakerfhvc.com
