Jerilyn Jean Josserand Buchholz, Jeri, to her friends, was born October 25, 1947 to Lena Hattie ?Harriet? Gatewood Josserand and Emery Josserand in Dodge City, KS. The second of six children, Emery Lawrence ?Butch?, Linda, Jon, Jodell, and Lance, they grew up in Johnson, KS. She passed away September 29, 2024 in Hesston, KS.

?Sis? as parents referred to her got an early start attending school at 4 years old and headed to college after graduation. Jeri attended Kansas State University, Southwestern, and Fort Hays State with a BA in Education.

Jeri moved to Oberlin, KS, where she began teaching in 1969. Her career in education spanned almost 40 years, including first, second, fifth, sixth, kindergarten, and a preschool owner. She excelled at reaching all her students with her patience and compassion. She referred to her students as her ?kids? and had many fond memories. She was one of the first teachers who embraced new technology at the school.

 Jeri made lifelong friends in the elementary school and in Oberlin. In 1970 she met James ?Jim? Clarence Buchholz, the new music teacher and they married December 27, 1972 in Syracuse, KS. Jim and Jeri built their home in Oberlin and they welcomed two children Amanda Jo ?Mandee? and Nathaniel James ?Nathan?.

Jeri participated in the community through PEO, Alter Society, and lovingly supporting the many activities of her husband and children. Jeri?s family grew with the addition of Nathan?s wife Whitney Mussyal in 2004 and Mandee?s husband Trinity ?Trint? Homewood in 2005. Jeri also became a proud grandma with the addition of Laynie Marie, 2007, Morgan Dawn 2009, and Nathaniel James Jr ?Nate?, 2012. She was a loving support to Mandee and Trint?s beagles over the years.

 Jeri moved to Hesston, KS to be closer to family, whom she enjoyed spending time with. She enjoyed taking trips together and suggested a cruise in 2018. She kept in contact with her Stanton County friends in the Oklahoma and Wichita area with monthly lunches the last several years. She also added her beloved dog, Zuzu and met fast friends at the dog park in Hesston. Jeri also connected with a local PEO group in Newton in the last year and was celebrated as a Golden Girl, 50 year member.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband: Jim; brothers: Butch and Jon. Survived by her loving dog, Zuzu; daughter: Mandee and Trint of Hesston; son: Nathan and Whitney of Holcomb; grandchildren: Laynie, Morgan, Nate, siblings Linda, Jodell, and Lance; as well as sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and a nephew, many cousins, extended family, and close friends.

Jeri had a generous spirit, always thinking of others and a strive to make everything fair. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3:00-7:00 PM on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Plumer-Gobber Funeral Home. Rosary will be at 7:00 PM. Burial in Oberlin Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made out to Oberlin?s Chapter BH PEO in honor of Jeri and her dedication to education and community involvement or the Tails A Waggin? Dog Park.
