NEWTON?Judith C. Hughes, 85, died Thursday, November 7, 2024, at her residence.
She was born January 11, 1939, at Newton, KS to Harold Claude and Lucile Rebecca (Brown) Unruh.
She was a lifelong resident of the Halstead and Newton area. She was a 1957 graduate of Halstead High school and attended Salt City Business College in Hutchinson.
She worked as a teller at the Halstead Bank and retired from Presbyterian Manor in Newton.
She was a member of the Red Hatters and was a founding member of the Newton Saddle Club. She was also a 4-H leader for the Lucky 13 Chapter for many years.
On October 11, 1964, she married Robert L. Hughes, at the First United Methodist Church Halstead. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include son: Ryan (Tabitha) Hughes, Halstead; daughter: Allyson (Richard) Stucky, Burrton; brother: Gary Unruh, Jacksboro, TX; sister: Joan (Kenneth) Angle, Wichita; and
grandchildren: Kassidy and Kinsey, Halstead.
Viewing will be from 2:00-8:00 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead, the visitation with the family will be from 6:30-8:00 pm
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2024, at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
Interment will follow at Halstead Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given to Caring Hands Humane Society or Victory in the Valley in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
