Iva Lavon Reber, age 89, died on November 7, 2024 at Kidron Bethel in North Newton, Kansas.
She was born on July 27, 1935 in Newton to parents Menno and Esther Schmidt and graduated from Newton High School in 1953. Iva was married to Robert (Bob) Reber on November 28 that same
year.
Iva and Bob lived on San Diego, California. Following Bob?s discharge from the U.S Navy they returned to the Newton area where they lived for the rest of their lives.
Iva was employed in medical records at both Hertzler clinic in Halstead and at Prairie View in Newton.
Iva is survived by her children: Pam Taylor, Winfield, Carol Immenschuh (Kent), Steamboat Springs, Colorado, Ron Reber, Newton, and Doug Reber (Bridget) Keller, Texas, grandchildren: Bryan
Taylor (Taryn), Perry, Oklahoma, Jenna Taylor Patterson (Patrick), Mission, Kansas, Sarah Immenschuh Brawner (Dave), Nashville, Tennessee, Laura Immenschuh, Greeley, Colorado, Alli Reber Houghan (Stephen) Leawood, Kansas,
Nikki Reber Coykendal (Sean), Sussex Wisconsin, Charlie Reber, Keller Texas, Natalie Reber, Keller, Texas, great-grandchildren: Gentry Taylor, Maisyn Taylor, Otto Patterson, Oliver Patterson, Bennett Patterson, Caroline Houghan
Henry Houghan, Avery Coykendal and Jackson Coykendal.
Iva was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, her parents, her sister Gladys Niles, brother-in-law Clarence Niles, nieces Jan Niles, Gail Niles Stucky and beloved grandson Brantley Taylor.
Iva?s greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Iva enjoyed all of the groups to which she belonged including her Sunday School Class at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church, PEO, Harvey County Rural Life and Treble Cleft.
She was committed to volunteerism which included delivering Meals on Wheels with Bob, volunteering at the Bethel Hospital Gift Shop, RSVP, Nomads, PTA, Rural Life and at the Harvey County
Fair Horticulture area form many years. The staff at Kidron South Hall asked her to be the ?Unofficial Greeter? for new residents, a ?position? she was happy to accept and enjoyed. Iva and Bob enjoyed
traveling to various areas across the U.S. on various mission trips. One mission trip was to Guatemala. Flower and vegetable gardening and bird watching also gave her much joy.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00P.M.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, November 15, 2024, 2:00 P.M. at Trinity Heights United Methodist Church in Newton. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Iva?s life. Interment
will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton.
Memorials are suggested to Kidron Bethel Life Enrichment or to Good Shepherd Hospice and may be left with the funeral home.
