Louis "Lou" Duane Landis went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 5 at Kidron Bethel Village, North Newton. He was born May 2, 1936 to Floyd Milton and Edna Marie
(Schmidt) Landis, in Perry, Oklahoma, the third of four children. His parents eventually settled in Idaho where he was raised on a farm. In 1958, Lou spent 2 years of voluntary service at the Kansas Children's Home, Kansas
City, and remained as an employee for an additional 7 years. Until his retirement, he was a school bus driver for the Kansas City, Kansas, schools. During those years, he enjoyed many visits to his mother's family in Galva
- his Uncle Glen and Betty Schmidt and their 4 children and his Aunt Ruth Walline ( Vern) and their family. After retirement, Lou moved back to Idaho. He eventually returned to Kansas to live near caregiver and first cousin,
Marilyn King and her family, who called him "Uncle Lou." Lou was a resident of Kidron Bethel Village Health Care for almost 13 years. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the all of the staff for
the excellent, compassionate care through those years. They were his friends. Lou was preceded in death by his parents and his three siblings: Milton (Mavis) Landis, Shirley Kauffman and Larry (Glenna) Landis. He is survived
by his brother-in-law Pete Kauffman of Mololla, Oregon, many nieces and nephews and their families, as well as Marilyn King (Julian Gladney), her family, her siblings: Teresa Weaver (Adam), New Holland, PA, Tracy Schmidt (Susan),
Galva, and their families. Visitation will be at Petersen's Family Funeral Home from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 13, with family present from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Burial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November
14, at Spring Valley Mennonite Church, 2896 Frontier Rd., Canton. Memorials may be made to Kidron Bethel Village Healthcare Benevolent Fund, c/o Petersen's Family Funeral Home, 225 Main St., Newton 67114.
