Irvin Earl Goertzen, 98, died on August 18, 2024, at Bethesda Home in Goessel, Kansas. He was born May 30, 1926 in Newton, Kansas, to Henry S. and Mathilda Wedel Goertzen. He grew up on
West Broadway in Newton, graduating from Newton High School in 1940.
He married Elaine Bachman on December 26, 1947 at First Mennonite Church, Newton, Kan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine (Bachman); a son, Loren Edward Goertzen; his parents, Henry S. and Mathilda Goertzen; sister, Edna Ruth Graber; and sister, Helen Bachman. He
is survived by their children: Dick Goertzen, Beatrice, Neb.; Keith Goertzen, Hutchinson, Kan.; Nancy Becker, Stockton, Kan.; Arlen Goertzen, Almont, Colo.; and Bradford Goertzen, Goshen, Ind.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later time.
