LaVerne F. "Vern" Hiebert, 82, of Hesston, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at Schowalter Villa. He was born on October 29, 1942, in Newton, Kansas, to Leonard and
Bertha S. (Janzen) Hiebert. Vern graduated from Walton High School. He worked as a loyal employee in assembly and rework at Hesston Corporation, Hay & Forage, and AGCO for 44 years. Vern was united in marriage to Janice
N. (Groneman) Caffrey on June 1, 1991.Together, they spent lots of trips together on motorcycles, riding with great friends, and traveling to more than half the states in the US.She preceded him in death on October 23, 1998.
Vern was always a hard worker, in every project he was involved with at his job, or any project for his family. He had a heart of gold always willing to help out, always willing to be happy and positive. Every time he looked
at you, he'd smile with the most genuine, appreciative smile. He loved genuinely making it to as many kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids sports, school, and family events. He certainly had the capacity to be ornery and
funny, to get a laugh from family and friends. He was such a very loyal, truly loving man. Always remembered to say "Thank you", always a gentleman. We all miss this positive, loving, genuine, helpful gentleman.
He is survived by his children, Donna Drew of Newton, Kelly Leazer of Wichita, Mike Caffrey of Chuluota, FL, Kevin (Aimee) Caffrey of Ithaca, NY, and John (Roni) Caffrey of Hesston; eight grandchildren, Becky Prouty, Christopher
Prouty, Payton Caffrey, Emrys Caffrey, Esme Caffrey, Dustin Hamilton, Darcy Esau, and Levi Caffrey; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Vern was also preceded in death by his parents; and brothers,
Leland and Jerry Hiebert. Our whole family sincerely appreciates the loving care and support that Vern received at the Schowalter Villa. We cannot say enough positive about the love shown to Vern by the Schowalter staff and
Good Shepard Hospice this last year. Cremation is planned with a private family burial to take place later at Restlawn Gardens of Memory, Newton. Memorial contributions may be made to Schowalter Villa in the care of Miller-Ott
Funeral Home, PO Box 32, Hesston, KS 67062. We'll sure miss you Vern We know you're with Jesus, you're happy now, with Jan, and you're able to watch from above as all the kids grow up, but we still miss you.
