Allan Ralph Mast

Allan Ralph Mast, 85, of Hesston, Kansas, died Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born October 12, 1939 in Harrisonville, Missouri to Jonathan M. and Sarah Alma (Hershberger) Mast.

He graduated from Hesston College in 1959 and from Goshen College in 1961 with a bachelor?s degree.

After college, Allan completed two years of voluntary service in Mennonite Central Committee?s PAX program, living near Salzburg, Austria. He and the other ?Pax Boys? constructed houses and a church building for Yugoslavian refugees after World War II.

Allan and Jeannene (Reschly) Mast were united in marriage on August 10, 1968 at Hesston Mennonite Church. They shared over 56 years of marriage together.

Allan worked as a typesetter for the Hesston Record newspaper from 1965-2003. In 1991, he and Jeannene became custodians at Hesston Mennonite Church, where they were members.

Family and genealogy were important to Allan. He also sang with the Kansas Mennonite Men?s Chorus. Every summer held at least one road trip to visit family, reunite with ?Pax Boys,? or see friends.

Allan is survived by his wife Jeannene of Hesston; daughter, Anita Christian (Matt) of Hutchinson; son Timothy of Newton; grandson, Micah Christian; brother, John (Margaret); sisters-in-law, Linda Schrock and Lois Stauffer (Ken); brother-in-law, Don Diller (Debbie); ten nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, John and Alice Reschly; sister-in-law, Jane (Reschly) Diller; and brother-in-law, Delbert Schrock.

Friends may visit at the Schowalter Villa Chapel on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, from 6 to 8 p.m. Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, at Eastlawn Cemetery. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Hesston Mennonite Church. A luncheon will follow.
