J. Lloyd Dyck
J. Lloyd Dyck was born to George H. and Leah Boeckner Dyck on August 19, 1926, in rural Harvey County near Hesston, Kansas. He passed away on May 30, 2013, at Pine Village Rest Home at Moundridge, Kansas. Death was a result of complications of heart disease. He reached the age of eighty-six years.
Lloyd grew to manhood in Harvey County and received his education at District 16 School, located a little over a mile south of his parents' home. He answered the call of the Lord at the young age of eleven years and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on February 22, 1938, at the Meridian Congregation, Hesston, Kansas.
Dad married our mother, Eileene Koehn, on March 16, 1952, at the Grace Mennonite Congregation, Halstead, Kansas. They enjoyed a happy marriage for over sixty-one years. They resided in the Hesston area for the first twenty-five years. Then in 1977, they moved to DeRidder, Louisiana, where they lived for thirty-one years. The last nearly five years were spent in Pine Village, Moundridge, Kansas.
In 1957, a son, John, joined the family and in 1959, another son, Douglas. Then in 1967, a daughter, Pamela, completed the family circle. Dad worked at different occupations during his lifetime. He was a welder, a farmer, and enjoyed raising calves for butcher stock.
Attending church services was very important to Dad. He especially enjoyed Sunday School and Bible Studies. He was a peace-loving man, and he was often found in prayer early in the morning. He was concerned for his family's salvation and endeavored to maintain a close personal walk with God. We rest in the assurance of his testimony that he was at peace with God and trusted in the shed blood of Jesus to cover his failings.
Those left to remember him are his wife, Eileene, of Pine Village, Moundridge, Kansas; daughter, Pamela, Goessel, Kansas; son, Douglas, DeRidder, Louisiana; grandson, Travis Dyck, DeRidder, Louisiana; two brothers: Roy and wife, Evelyn, Moundridge, Kansas; and Edwin and wife, Loretta, Bonners Ferry, Idaho; two sisters: Maxine and Elwood Koehn; and Ruth and Bob Mininger, both of Moundridge, Kansas; sister-in-law, Althea Dyck, Walnut Hill, Florida.
He was predeceased by his parents, one son, one grandson, two brothers and a sister in infancy.
Funeral services were held June 3, 2013, at the Meridian Church, Hesston, Kansas. Officiating ministers were Franklin Wenger, Eldon Wenger, and Shawn Giesel. Burial was in the Meridian Church Cemetery, Hesston, Kansas.
