Ed Robinson

Ed Robinson?s life began on Nov. 8, 1935, in Newton, Kansas. He was the son of Arthur and Mabel (Willey) Robinson. Ed graduated from Florence High School in 1953. After high school, Ed attended Emporia State College. Ed proudly served the United States Army from August 1958 to August 1960. Ed was assigned to Company C, 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry at Fort Myers, Virginia (Arlington). Ed was also a member of the Honor Guard. Along with managing the Florence Co-Op for 26 years, he was the jack of all trades when it came to business and entrepreneurship?a liquor store, laundromat, raising cattle and so much more.

Ed was very involved in his community, serving on the city council, Florence Historical Society, Florence Community Foundation, and Florence Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the John McKay Post 308 of the American Legion and the Kansas Livestock Association. Ed was an active cattleman, who spent days at the farm tending to the cattle. Ed enjoyed spending his mornings at the gas station in Florence, greeting all of the town folk. He never knew a stranger and never forgot a face.

Ed is survived by his children, Jackie (Mike) Sigwing of Wichita, Ed (Linda) Robinson of Florence, and Kevin (Janet) Robinson of Florence; grandchildren, Kelly (David) Seume, Natasha Brenzikofer, Nathan Brenzikofer, Jeconiah (Jenna) Spangler, Jeremy (Katlyn) Robinson, KayCee (Isaac) Hett, and Krisde (Trevor) Kruse; 16 great-grandchildren, his sister, Mary Ann (Troy) Craig of Henderson, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

Ed passed away at his home on Thursday morning Nov. 28, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandsons, Kolten and Arthur; and his brothers, Claire and Bill Robinson.

His family will gather with friends on Friday, Dec. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Yazel Megli Funeral Home in Marion. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 11 a.m. at the Florence United Methodist Church. He will be laid to rest in Hillcrest Cemetery, Florence, with military honors.
