Billie N. Miller
Billie N. Miller, 93, died Jan. 26, 2025, at Kansas Christian Home in Newton. She was born March 24, 1931, in Midvale, Idaho, to Weldon and Edith (Craddock) Holmes. On Aug. 26, 1949, she
married Howard Miller in Florence, Kansas, and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1991.
Billie was a longtime active member of the First Baptist Church in Newton. She worked at Hesston Corp. for 20 years and the Newton School System in the food service department for 18 years,
where she was the ?lunch lady.? Billie retired when she was 80.
She had many hobbies in her life, but one of her greatest joys was gardening and tending flowers. She loved to share her knowledge of plants and was a graduate of the Harvey County Master
Gardeners. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and embroidery. Another hobby she enjoyed was painting and being able to share her paintings with friends and family. Billie enjoyed helping people and was a lifelong volunteer.
She volunteered at the senior center, where she was a receptionist and helped cook breakfast.
She is survived by three sons, Erle (Glenda) Miller, Gary (Diane) Miller and Stephen (Anita) Miller; and one daughter, Sheryl (Ron) Hoffman. She also is survived by 12 grandchildren, 38
great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; parents; stepmother, Frances Holmes; infant daughter, Gloria, and daughter Dawna Miller; great-grandsons, Ryan Tener and Christopher
Horn; and one sister, Lou Fixsen.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, at First Baptist Church in Newton, with Pastor Chip Bungard presiding. Visitation will be from noon to service Thursday at the church.
Burial will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory in rural Newton.
Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice or First Baptist Church and left with Petersen Funeral Home.
