Thomas R. Hawkins, 74, died Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation.
He was born on December 1, 1950, at Parsons to Ralph C. and Eileen D. (Aldino) Hawkins.
He was a 1968 graduate of Trinity Catholic High School, Hutchinson, and earned a B.A. in English and an M.A. of fine arts from WSU. He was an English professor at Butler Community College.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.
He is survived by his children: Joshua (Tara) Hawkins, Bishop, Ga., Nathan (Carlene) Hawkins, Halstead, Emma (Eric) Breed, Leawood, and Laura Hawkins, Overland Park; a sister: Kathleen (Mike)
Hall, Hutchinson; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Noreen Hawkins.
The memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, February 28, at Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead, with Chaplain Darnell Bryant officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Grassland Heritage Foundation in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
