Jeffrey W. Ewert
NEWTON?Jeffery W. Ewert, 68, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, at Paramount Living and Rehabilitation.
He was born June 5, 1956, at Newton, to William H. and Anna Lee (Nickel) Ewert.
He was a 1974 graduate of Halstead High School and earned an associate of arts degree from Hesston College. He was a truck driver for Dillons and D.J. Trucking; he also worked for Standridge
Color Corporation.
On Dec. 24, 2003, he married Penny Horton at Newton. She survives at their home at Burrton.
He is survived by his daughters, Megan (Robert) Ross, Newton, and Michelle (Tony) Jaso, Newton; parents, William and Anna Lee Ewert, Newton; sister, Jill Backus, Mt. Pleasant, Wisc.; brother,
Jon (Renee) Ewert, Hesston; bonus children, Troy (Susan) Horton, Celina, Texas, Shana (Brian) Schmidt, Newton, Kala (Scott) Hase, Burrton, and Cody (Kirsten) Horton, Newton; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Joel Ewert.
A private family service has been held, and a public celebration of Jeff?s life will be on a date yet to be determined.
Memorials may be given to St Jude Children?s Hospital or Shepherd Center Brain and Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Center in care of Kaufman Funeral Home, Halstead.
