Martin "Marty" Dillon, 79, of Bullard Texas, passed away April 26, 2024, surrounded by family, after a brief battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Marty was born August 4, 1944,
in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the son of Wilburn Sr. and Clara E. (Ogan) Dillon. Marty's early years were spent in Stroud, Oklahoma until his family moved to Newton, Kansas in 1954. Marty attended elementary school and helped his
parents at their OTASCO store in Newton. In 1959, Marty enrolled in military school in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Marty completed his education at Ponca Military Academy, graduating in 1962. After graduation, Marty returned to
Newton, where he briefly attended Bethel College while pursuing a musical career. This career included owning a club where he played drums in his band. Marty's passion for performing 70's music remained with him throughout
his life. Marty later moved to Texas in 1974 where he became a lifelong Texan. In Texas, Marty started working for various emerging technology companies where he eventually started his own satellite dish company in Houston,
Texas and helped pioneer the evolution to smaller more compact satellite dish technology. Marty was also licensed in Real Estate in the State of Texas for many years. Marty's hobbies included motorcycle trips with friends,
working on his pontoon boat and customizing his 1974 Corvette. Marty enjoyed his time on the boat with Bev, as they shared beautiful Lake Palestine. Marty was also a gun enthusiast and enjoyed collecting guns as well reading
and sharing literature from his collection. Marty was passionate about learning and loved to share with friends and family via email or a phone call. Marty is survived by his loving wife, Bev Dillon, of Bullard, TX. His daughter
Kelly Libel (Danny) of Leona, KS, daughter Shawn Dillon (Kurt) of Newton, mother-in-law Marjorie E. Janzen of N. Newton, stepdaughter Jennifer Helfinstein (Jake) of Clayton, NC, and stepson Matthew Helfinstein of Fairfax,
VA, along with eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Marty was proceeded in death by his father Wilburn Dillon Sr, his mother Clara Dillon, and brother Wilburn Dillon Jr. Friends and family are cordially invited
to attend a 'Celebration of Life' gathering on Saturday, June 8, 2024. The event will be held from 2:00pm - 4:00pm in the community room at the Comfort Inn, 1205 East 1st Street, Newton, KS.
