HESSTON -- Gertrude Blough, 89, died Wednesday (Sept. 3, 2003) at Mercy Hospital in Moundridge.
She was born Feb. 18, 1914, in Casanovia, N.Y. to Samuel and Seable (Brunsma) DeBoer. They preceded her in death.
She married Alvin Blough Oct. 3, 1936, in Amenia, N.Y. He preceded her in death March 4, 1998.
She grew up in New York and moved to Pennsylvania and Iowa after her marriage, moving to Hesston in 1962.
She was a homemaker and a member of Hesston Mennonite Church,
Survivors include: five sons, John Blough of Hesston, Jerry Blough of Reno, Nev., Jim Blough of Hesston, Jay Blough of Oklahoma City and Joseph Blough of Edmonton, Okla.; threedaughters,
Judy Smith of Emporia, Joyce McLear of Tulsa,
Okla., and Julia Rodgers of Vancouver, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in deathby one daughter.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral home in Hesston. The family will great friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.
Memorial service will be 10 a,m, Saturday at Hesston Mennonite Church with the Revs. John Murray and Cheryl Hershberger officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with the Alvin and Gertrude Blough Pastoral Ministries Scholarship Fund.
