Died in Burrton, Kansas, on Tuesday, January 10th, 1888, of paralysis, John W. Campbell, aged 75 years. Mr. Campbell was born in Kentucky, and removed with his parents from that State to Preble county, Ohio, where they resided for a number of years. Being attacked with the western fever, the family removed from that State to Peoria county, Illinois, where Mr. Campbell resided for 30 years. In 1885, Mr. and Mrs. Campbell removed to this city where they have since resided. The deceased had been enjoying good health until about two weeks ago, when he was suddenly seized with paralysis, which caused his death. Mr. Campbell was a very popular man among his neighbors wherever he has lived, and those who had known him the longest, respected him the most. He has been a devout member of the Prebyterian Church for nearly 40 years, which denomination loses a valuable member.
Deceased leaves a wife and 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls, to mourn the loss of a kind husband and loving father. The remains were yesterday placed in a beautiful casket and shipped back to the old home near Peoria for interment in the family cemetery. Mrs. Campbell and her son-in-law, M. Seerey, accompanied them.
Thus ends another useful life, and as the spirit of this upright man knocks at the pearly gates, he is answered: "Well done, good and faithful wervant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."
