Wesley Altum 69, died March 31, 2025, at Rose Hill, Kansas. He was born March 31, 1955, in Newton, Kansas to Don and Leota (Keezer) Altum. Survived by daughter Mandy Craig (Mike), son Bobby
Altum, grandchildren Katelyn Stahly (Brome), Erin Zinn, Alex Altum, Jett, Jeffrey Craig (Bailie), Preston Craig (Kayla), great-grandchildren Dawson, Emersyn, Warren, and Liam, along with siblings Donnitta Warren, Ed Altum,
Tom Altum (Angela), Bill Altum (Renita), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Proceeded in death by his spouse Barbara Smith, son Dustin Altum, brothers Glenn, Joe, and Gene (brother-in-law), his mother Leotta, and father
Don. In Wes' spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family. You could often find him out fishing or hunting, playing poker with his brothers, nephews, cousins, and friends, at the casino (never winning big unfortunately
so he claimed), trapping opossums and neighborhood cats keeping a tally of what he caught on the back shed, and letting them loose to see another day, watching old westerns at a very loud volume, and enjoying a beer with his
family at his daughters house watching the grandkids, great grandkids, and dogs run amuck. He also had a heavy green thumb when it came to gardening, made the best salsa with all homegrown food, and was a pro at canning okra
and pickles. It was rare to get him to take a photo, but the memories he made with his family will forever be cherished. And no one ever left his house with an oatmeal cream pie or a dum dum sucker to snack on. Visitation
will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Petersen Funeral Home. The Graveside Committal service will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2025, at Halstead, City Cemetery in Halstead, Kansas. Memorials may be
made to the Kansas Wildlife and Park and left in the care of Petersen Funeral Home.
