Peggy Sue Altum, 74, died Dec. 16, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. She was born May 10, 1949, in Newton to Sam and Frieda (Blosser) Koehn. She retired as a receptionist at the former Regier Title Company in Newton. Peggy attended NewSpring Church in Wichita.
She could often be found outside tending flowers and gardens around her home. She loved doing the work of making a house a home for her family. She enjoyed dancing, especially country western dancing, even going as far as Nashville to dance in clubs. In her years, she spent time camping at Marion Lake and enjoyed being on the lake, water skiing. Peggy?s greatest joy was her family. She loved being a mom and grandma and greatly looked forward to following her grandkids? activities and being with them.
She is survived by her sons, James Kelley (Wynette), Rick Altum (Autumn), JR Altum (Holly), and Guy Altum (Tiffany). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Evan, Abigail, Daniel, Alexis, Christopher, Austin, Cadence, Max, Ashley, and Aislyn; and three great-grandchildren, Colton, Michael and Weston. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jason ?Jake? Kelley; and brother, Robert ?Bob? Koehn.
Funeral service was at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Petersen Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Chip Bungard presiding. Visitation was from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 26, at Petersen Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place in the Andover Cemetery. Memorials may be made out to Midwest Transplant Network and left in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
