Kansas City -- Delbert Dean Hopkins, 77, passed away March 21, 2025 in Kansas City, MO, with his wife of 55 years by his side. Delbert was born on September 22, 1947 in El Dorado, Kansas.
He married his beloved wife Pamela (Markee) on August 10, 1969. Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Julia Hopkins, and sister, Linda Hopkins. He is survived by his wife, daughters Debbie Alden (Mark),
Jill Hopkins, grandson Andrew Lewick, brothers Richard, Gene, Darrell (Wanda), Mike (Jo), and Larry Hopkins, Tom Harker (Corliss) and sisters Sharon Walsh (Dan), Nita Shaffer (Ron), Nancy, Kathy, and Karen Hopkins. Delbert
was raised in Potwin, Kansas and graduated from Remington High School. He proudly served in the US Army and fought in Vietnam. He spent most of his working life in Newton, Kansas at Full Vision and finished his career at BMG
in Hesston, Kansas. He enjoyed volunteering with the Newton High School vocational training program. After retiring, Delbert moved to Missouri to be closer to his daughter, Jill, and grandson. He spent several years attending
games, teaching Andrew how to build things, and fish. Delbert loved going to Arizona to ride ATV's and camp with Debbie and Mark. Vacations were spent driving out west and visiting the National Parks and other sites. Delbert
was happiest spending time with his family and helping his friends on their farms, especially during harvest. In the final years of his life, he never met a stranger and made many new friends in Kansas City, both in his residence
and in the Rock Steady Community. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Rock Steady Boxing Program. They may be sent to: The Jewish Community Center The Ben Rubin Parkinson's Wellness Program
