Glen E. Spielman
Glen E. Spielman, a devoted family man, respected community member, and dedicated professional, passed away peacefully at his residence in Newton, Kansas, on October 14, 2025, at the age
of 87. Born on November 15, 1937, in Wichita, Kansas, Glen enriched the lives of those around him throughout his long and fulfilling life. He married Hazel West on December 19, 1964, and she preceded him in death on July 4,
2024.
With a passion for construction, Glen ran Thermo Products for over six decades. His expertise in operating various machines enabled him to specialize in concrete and driveway work, a vital
contribution to the local community. He also undertook sewer cleanouts and pipelaying, showcasing his skill and versatility in his trade. Further, Glen shared his love for the outdoors by running a bait shop for many years,
where he built lasting friendships and encouraged family and friends to enjoy fishing.
Glen?s commitment to his community extended beyond his professional life. He ran for the Newton City Commission twice, driven by a vision for the future of the city that he called
home. His desire to improve his community highlighted his dedication to public service, reflecting the values he held dear.
Education was important to Glen; he attended Newton Schools and worshipped at Eternal Life Street Ministries. His personality shone brightly in his quiet way of helping others, as he found
fulfillment in caring for those around him without seeking accolades or recognition.
Glen proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant. This service instilled in him values of loyalty and perseverance, which he carried throughout his
life.
Family was at the core of Glen?s life. He is survived by his loving sons, Glen Spielman Jr. (Delene), Neil (Loretta) Spielman, and John (Marcie) Spielman, along with 12 grandchildren,
10 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Glen's legacy as a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather lives on through his family and friends, reflecting the love he shared so generously.
Glen is preceded in death by his Wife Hazel, father, Reid Spielman; mother, Carrie Nell Barksdale; son, Kurt Spielman; and daughter, Glenna Spielman. Each of these individuals held a special
place in his heart and left an indelible mark on his life.
Visitation services for Glen will be held on October 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Petersen Family Funeral Home located at 215 N Main St., Newton, KS 67114. The family will receive
friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the funeral home. Private family services will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Newton with Military Honors.
Glen E. Spielman will be remembered not only for his accomplishments but for the kindness he showed to others and the love he nurtured within his family. His spirit will undoubtedly continue
to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
