Mrs. Elsie Dyck
Elsie Epp Dyck, daughter of Franz Epp and Elisebet Janzen Epp was born June 18, 1865, in Fresenheim, Russia. Her parents, born in West Prussia, settled in Russia for a short period, before
bringing their family to the United States in 1876. She spent her childhood near Halstead, Kansas, and was baptized in the Halstead Mennonite Church on November 2, 1879.
She was united in marriage in 1886 with Peter Dyck. To this union were born twelve children, four of which preceded her in death; three boys in their childhood and Harry Alfred Dyck, who
passed away in his manhood, 17 years ago on the same day of his mother?s departure, June 1.
Those left to cherish her memory are the loving husband, Peter Dyck; four sons and four daughters. These are: Herbert of Wichita, Kansas; Cornie of Burrton, Kansas; Pete of Moundridge, Kansas?
Elmer, who is serving as a Marine in the Southwest Pacific; Johanna, who nursed and cared for her in her home in Halstead; Mrs. Marie Bartel of Halstead, Mrs. Elsa Horsch of Ontario, California, and Anna Bells of Monterey,
Mexico; Also three sisters-in-law, two brother?s-in-law, seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in the First Mennonite church of Halstead at 2:30 o?clock, Monday afternoon, June 5, with Rev. D. C. Wedel, pastor of the church, and Rev. T. R. Mordy, pastor
of the Presbyterian in Halstead in charge.
Burial was in the family lot in Halstead Cemetery.
